The 22nd OHNNG national conference for 2018, in conjunction with the Australian Society of Head and Neck Surgeons annual surgical meeting will be held at the Crown Convention Centre at Burswood in Perth WA from Friday 9th March to Sunday 11th March. It is my pleasure to invite OHNNG members and all nurses with an interest in ENT or Head and Neck nursing to join us in the beautiful city of Perth.
Our ongoing positive relationship with ASOHNS affords us the wonderful opportunity to run our national meeting simultaneously with our surgeons and enables our delegates to avail themselves of the ASOHNS program. This opportunistic blend of surgical and nursing programs is unique to our group and is certainly highly valued by past conference participants.
Our program will benefit from the ASOHNS international invited and keynote speakers, and comprise of a host of nursing, allied staff and patient centred presentations focusing on the theme of “Brave New World”.
Although the program will be ‘tight’ we hope to include the popular hands on workshops and host a social gathering to blend networking and relaxation in the picturesque environment of the Swan River.
As our meetings travels around our country it allows us a great opportunity to meet with fellow nurses and clinicians that are involved with our unique specialty. As president of the group I would like to extend this invitation to participate and benefit from our 22nd meeting. I would like to encourage and welcome you to start planning to attend, what we hope to be an exciting and stimulating meeting.
Your contribution will ensure OHNNG’s objectives are met, and by attending all allocated sessions for this 3 day event you will accrue up to 23.5 hours towards your annual professional development for the year. It is our objective that you return to your work environments with extended knowledge, some work areas to develop or research, many new friends found and old friends reacquainted. Our previous meetings have resulted in overwhelmingly positive feedback – and I’m sure this one will too. Might I suggest you start planning your leave, saving your pennies and finding your way to Perth in March 2018.
The theme for our 2018 meeting is Brave New World, and as the conference convenor I will endeavour to offer a diverse mix of presentations by invited surgeons, including the international key note speakers, nurses (both experienced and novice presenters), and our allied health partners with a range of topics that will suit our varied audience.
As mentioned OHNNG delegates are permitted to attend presentations on the ASOHNS program.
The Crown Perth convention Centre is situated on the eastern bank of the Swan River just minutes from the CBD. I invite you to visit www.crownperth.com.au for specific details about this venue.
